THE SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE: TO PROBLEM STATEMENT (THE REVIEW)

Abstract


The purpose of the study is to summarize and to analyze results of national and foreign studies concerning incorporation of sociological studies in occupational medicine. The analysis of databases of PubMed, eLibrary, Cohrane Library, MEDLINE was carried out according keywords: "sociology of occupational medicine", "social factors", "occupational risk", "occupational diseases", "occupational pathology", "the occupational risk management system". The sampling for analysis included 257 sources. The publications review permitted to substantiate incorporation of sociological studies on medicine, health, traumatism, morbidity, labor, employment, professions and risk as basis for new problem field in occupational medicine. This area can be denoted as "the sociology of occupational medicine" and in considerable extent has applied character. The consideration of social problems is directly related to development of general scientific knowledge and formation of concept of risk, including in medicine. The practical application of results of theoretical methodological and applied sociological studies can contribute to critical comprehension of key factors of management of occupational risks, improvement of quality of life of workers and preservation of labor longevity.
