THE MEDICAL SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTHY LONGEVITY: COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES OF PREVENTION

Abstract


The article considers key determinants of life expectancy of elderly population in conditions of global challenges and opportunities. The study is based on quantitative data from the WHO, the World Bank, the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion, the National Agency for Financial Research and qualitative materials obtained by expert interviews. The purpose of the study is to substantiate comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to prevention of preventable mortality and to prolonging healthy life of the elderly based on analysis of medical social, economic and infrastructural determinants of longevity. The key determinants of healthy longevity were substantiated and interpreted: level of education, possibility of annual dispensarization, access to infrastructure of locality and region, social services. The conclusion is made about suitability of currently implementing transition of Russian medicine from biomedical strategies to comprehensive preventive ones based on application of medical and educational technologies.
