On the basis of analysis of scientific publications, data is summarized concerning effects of physical activity on cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, cognitive functions, psychological state and social activity of elderly adults. It is demonstrated that regular motion activity contributes to maintenance of functional independence, to decrease of risk of age-related diseases and to support of quality of life in elderly age. The conceptual pattern highlighting physical activity as backbone factor of active longevity.
