The actuality of topic is conditioned by increasing complexity of clinical practice, expansion of application of digital technologies, development of telemedicine, medical information systems, artificial intelligence and remote education formats. The purpose of the study is to substantiate significance of digital tutorship in system of professional development of medical personnel and to identify its main functional directions. Based on results of analysis of official documents of the WHO, normative and strategic documents of the Russian Federation, as well as data from systematic reviews, it is demonstrated that digital tutorship can be considered not only as form of professional support, but also as tool to form clinical, digital, communicative, organizational and research competencies.
